On a high mound in a rectangular compound at the end of a line of telegraph poles, on the north side of a farm track that continues from the end of Gasworks Lane past the sewage works.
OPEN All surface features remain intact with some flaking of the green paint. Like many local posts the step is of brick with a concrete slab on top. There are steps up the mound and wooden planks along the base of it to help stop the soil slipping. When inspected in 2002 one padlock is still in place but the hatch could be opened sideways as one hinge pin has been forced out of its socket. The hatch would no longer close properly. It has now been refitted flush although still partly detached and it has been secured with two padlocks and chain. Internally many artifacts remain including the table, shelf, cupboard, two bench seats, tool rack, BPI mount, BT junction boxes and wiring, battery box, short double shelf above the battery position, long shelf on side wall, candle holder, mirror, locking bar, dustpan, some papers and a 1:50,000 OS map of the area on the wall. The post was closed in 2003.
Opened in 1961 and closed in 1991.
