In a rectangular compound on the West side of Baileys Lane on the edge of the old Liverpool Airport.
All surface features remain intact with a little green paint remaining and set low into the ground. The ventilation louvres and the hatch are missing. The access shaft is filled with rubble to with three feet of the top.
Opened in 1959 and closed in 1968.

Note there are two Bailey’s Lanes in Liverpool, only one is close to the airport.
I lived quite close by as a teenager, and had a friend who was in the ROC at the time the bunker was in full operation. He had the key, and one night we went there.
It was originally within the boundaries of the old airport, very close to Speke Hall. There were few trees in the area at the time, but I see now from the satellite photos that it is heavily wooded. Baileys Lane was actually a road that led from the nearby shadow factory, which connected during World War Two to the airfield, so that the assembled aircraft could be tested before being delivered.
When the ROC was disbanded, the bunker was locked, and lay undisturbed for a long time. However, once that area of the old airport had fallen into disuse, the vandalism began; the lid was forced off the bunker, and as stated, it was filled with debris, probably fly tipping. It may be that it is just the shaft that is filled with rubble. The area underneath was quite large. It is such a pity that it is inaccessible now.
