On the east side of the Sleat Primary School playing field
DEMOLISHED No trace of anything remains. Two local residents confirmed the position and both thought the post was still extant but an extensive search revealed no trace. A small compound in the playing field is the school’s weather monitoring station.
An aircraft post stands on a hilltop several miles to the north east at NG69601260. It is of the standard Scottish post war design consisting of a building approximately 7' X 5' with an open topped observation area approximately 5' X 5' and a crew room with a sloping tin sheet as a roof. The removable tin roof for the observation room lies on the grass nearby. This post was known as Isle of Oronsay but was re-named Ardvasar when resited in 1961.
Opened in 1961 and closed in 1991.
