Finchley Borough Control was built during the Second World War and consisted of a single-storey brick building adjacent to the council offices, Avenue House. It remained operational until 1965 when the London Borough of Barnet took over Finchley Borough. The former Control then remained empty and became derelict.
At the end of the 1990s the Control building was demolished and the site, which included the Council’s former Citizens' Advice Bureau, was redeveloped into a gated community of upmarket apartments.
