In a square overgrown compound on top of Warden Hill, 50 yards North of trig. station and 200 yards West of B4003
LOCKED All surface features remain intact with some flaking of the light green paint. there is some damage to the top of the access shaft probably caused by people trying to break in. The padlocks have been recently cut off. The hatch is locked but can be opened with a ‘T’ bar key. All the telecommunication (BT) equipment remains in place including Tele-talk, WB1401 receiver, switching box, connection boxes and WB1410 filter unit. Other remaining artefacts include cupboard, table, shelf, extra high level shelving in the toilet, light, folding wooden chair, utensils, spare FSM gaskets, small splint, fire blanket box, battery box, sickle, pick axe, crowbar, plastic ‘no smoking beyond this point’ sign, home made carpeted foot rest and wiring. Since visited in 1999 the post has been badly vandalised. Andy Muckle visited on 3.4.2005 and reports: The hatch has been vandalised, the concrete surround to the steel hatch has been damaged so that the whole hatch assembly can be levered off. The hatch was open and cannot be shut (mechanism jammed?). In the post there is some lying water. The inside is covered in graffiti and very little remains except the bench and some old boxes. The loo is still there.
Opened in 1961 and closed in 1991.
